At the end of May, Lisa McMullan, the Director for Development at The Women’s Organisation and Principal Consultant at Enterprise Evolution, travelled from Liverpool to Concepción, Chile, to participate in the 14th PRODEM Seminar – Seminar for Professionals of the Latin American Entrepreneurial Ecosystem. Held from the 27th to the 30th of May 2025, the seminar brought together professionals from across the globe to reflect on the future of innovation and entrepreneurship in Latin America.

Lisa McMullan with Neris Mercedes Ramos Acevedo

It was a full house, an exciting, energetic space for sharing entrepreneurial ecosystems and building meaningful connections. Lisa was invited to contribute insights from our work at The Women’s Organisation and Enterprise Evolution, focusing on three key areas:

The development of entrepreneurial capabilities
The formation of successful entrepreneurial teams
The specific challenges faced by innovative women entrepreneurs.

In her presentation, Lisa highlighted something we often observe in our international work: while contexts may differ, many of the challenges entrepreneurs face are strikingly similar. Whether in the UK or Latin America, entrepreneurs are navigating uncertainty, developing their confidence, and trying to access the right networks and resources.

That’s why she emphasised the value of global cooperation and knowledge exchange—because learning from each other is one of the most powerful tools we have. Lisa also brought a bit of Liverpool to Concepción.

She shared how both cities, located by rivers and shaped by rich musical traditions (with their own proud rock scenes!), have more in common than meets the eye. It was a beautiful moment of connection and cultural appreciation that resonated with many of the local attendees. The conference offered not only a platform to speak but also a space to listen, learn, and connect.

Lisa felt welcomed and inspired by the warmth of the environment and returned with new relationships and fresh ideas to continue bridging entrepreneurial ecosystems across continents. We’re proud to be part of this global conversation, and even prouder to see Lisa representing our work and values on an international stage.
