We’re delighted to share news from long‑standing collaborator Jing Zhang, whose work in enterprise education has reached thousands of educators across China. Her new book, A Mid‑Life Reboot (中年转机), has officially launched! In it, she explores her journey from employee to highly regarded enterprise practitioner, and credits Enterprise Evolution as an international partner in her work.

Read Jing’s reflections on her book and her first reader event below.

At 45 years old, after 18 years serving my first employer following graduation, I faced a layoff and a profound loss of professional identity.
This book documents my real‑life journey from being an institutional employee to building a new career as an independent education practitioner.

It lays bare my personal struggles, shares practical collaborative models, and describes how I brought the EntreComp framework and EntreComp scaffolding toolkit into Chinese universities, supporting thousands of enterprise educators.

The book speaks to two key audiences: mid‑career professionals navigating uncertainty, and education practitioners seeking practical curriculum‑design tools.
None of this second‑career journey would have been possible without cross‑border knowledge exchange.

I would like to recognise my international collaborators, notably Professor Alison Price, alongside experts from The Women’s Organisation, Enterprise Educators UK, the European Training Foundation, Bantani Education and the wider global entrepreneurial‑education community.

I also offer my sincere thanks to my family and Chinese educators who supported my practice. My hope is that these pages bring encouragement to anyone going through a life transition.

Shortly after launch, I took part in an in‑person reader meet‑up organised by AllPKU Management Consultants Group. Despite gloomy weather, around 40 attendees aged between 10 and 70 turned up. Many made extraordinary efforts to join the event.

The honest feedback shared illustrates how strongly these themes resonate with real‑life readers. Attendees reflected on core take‑aways from the book and live discussion, including lifelong learning rooted in an altruistic mindset, mid‑career resilience, proactive change, and the entrepreneurial mindset.

A mid‑life reboot is not about erasing your past. It is about drawing on all your experience, confronting disruption, and choosing what you want your next chapter to look like.
