This January, the Women 5.0 project officially launched in Madrid with an inspiring kick-off meeting at Action Against Hunger HQ. The aroma of fresh coffee, croissants, and fruit set the stage for a day filled with collaboration and forward-thinking discussions.
Action Against Hunger, a global humanitarian organisation, has long been committed to tackling the root causes of hunger. Since 2013, it has championed employment—both self-employment and salaried work—as a key tool to combat food insecurity and social inequality. Hosting the first Women 5.0 meeting was a natural extension of their mission to create opportunities for women in business, and boost female entrepreneurship in Europe.
A Gathering of Changemakers
The event brought together key partners from across Europe, each dedicated to empowering women in entrepreneurship:
- ALL Digital – A Brussels-based European association providing digital skills training to individuals with limited digital literacy, equipping them with essential competencies.
- Association of Business Women in North Macedonia – An organization actively promoting and strengthening women’s entrepreneurship at both national and regional levels.
- MAO4Action – A dynamic and rapidly growing community supporting women entrepreneurs in Portugal.
- The Female Factor – A global career and leadership platform enabling the next generation of female decision-makers to secure their place at the table.
Key Insights & Next Steps
One of the primary goals of this first meeting was to analyse the results of the Women 5.0 survey. Roz, from Enterprise Evolution, presented the data, highlighting the key areas where female entrepreneurs are eager to upskill. The results revealed a strong demand for training in:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Social Media and Content Creation
- Financial Management Tools
- Boosting Productivity
- Data Analysis and Security
With these insights in mind, partners exchanged best practices on creating an effective online learning platform, ensuring accessibility and engagement for female entrepreneurs. During the session, the principles of EntreComp and DigComp were introduced to help strategies the learning approach. A direction for the next meeting was agreed upon, setting the stage for meaningful progress.
The new Women 5.0 project logo was also unveiled during the meeting.
To wrap up an already inspiring day, the team was treated to an evening of traditional Spanish food and drinks in a charming restaurant in the heart of Madrid, an opportunity to strengthen connections in a more relaxed setting.
As the Women 5.0 project moves forward, it is clear that this initiative has the potential to transform the digital and entrepreneurial landscape for women across Europe. Stay tuned for more updates as we take the next steps in this empowering journey.
